Rudolf Laban created a method for analyzing movement in the 1930s that included a notation system called Labanotation. Irmgard Bartenieff, a student of Laban, introduced developmental patterns and six basic movement fundamentals that focused on body connectivity. Laban Movement Analysis/Bartenieff Fundamentals (LMA/BF) are studied and practiced throughout the world within various dance practices and can be applied to all forms of movement from sports to driving a car. This dance class will utilize Laban Movement Analysis/Bartenieff Fundamentals to find connectivity, fluidity, and ease in the body. Student will leave feeling present and invigorated! We are passionate about teaching this style because the Laban system brings specificity in terms of both describing and embodying movement while Bartenieff Fundamentals integrate the body. This practice brings students to a place of authenticity, greater movement potential, and deep growth.
