What makes a well-crafted object? To what extent are such criteria measured by durability and performance, vs. cultural or psychological influences? This talk by Elie Glyn will focus on woodworking, primarily from a Western perspective, but attendees are encouraged to bring forward their insights into other types of craft.

Elie Glyn is the lead exhibition designer at the Harvard Art Museums. His background is in furniture design, and he is an amateur wood turner. His favorite domestic hardwood is beech.
